What precautions should be taken when using an insulin injector?
Before the injection, the patient should wash their hands, check the type of insulin and the dose of the injection, exhaust the air in the injector, and select the parts with more subcutaneous fat, such as both sides of the abdomen and the upper outer part of the thigh, etc., disinfect the skin with alcohol cotton balls, and wait for alcohol. After drying, use your thumb, index finger, and middle finger to pinch the skin where the injection will be injected, insert the 4mm needle vertically, and inject the 6mm needle at a 45° angle, push the liquid medicine, and slowly pull out the needle after a few seconds, and press with a cotton ball. No need to massage the injection site. It should be noted that when injecting insulin, the injection site must be rotated frequently, and the distance between each injection point should be more than 1 cm to prevent repeated injections at the same site, otherwise it will easily lead to partial subcutaneous fat atrophy or hyperplasia, which will affect the absorption of insulin. In addition, avoid scrubbing the needle tip with alcohol-based reagents, as alcohol will peel off the coating on the needle tip, make the needle core rough, and increase the pain during injection.

For unopened insulin, it can be stored at room temperature in a cool and dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, protected from light and heat. Insulin stored at room temperature after opening should generally not exceed 4 weeks. If the insulin is unopened and will not be used in a short period of time, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator at 2-8 degrees Celsius, and not in the freezer. Do not place it in the refrigerator close to the wall of the refrigerator, otherwise the insulin may be damaged due to freezing; also do not place it next to the refrigerator door. Repeated opening and closing of the refrigerator door will cause the insulin to vibrate repeatedly, which will affect the insulin titer and reduce the hypoglycemic effect.
