Before the injection, the patient needs to wash his hands, check the type of insulin and the injection dose, exhaust the air in the syringe, choose the parts with more subcutaneous fat, such as the sides of the abdomen, the upper part of the outer thigh, etc., disinfect the skin with alcohol cotton balls, and wait for alcohol After it’s dry, use your thumb, index finger, and middle finger to pinch the injected skin, insert the 4mm needle vertically, and inject the 6mm needle at a 45° angle, push in the liquid, stay for a few seconds, slowly pull out the needle, and press it with a cotton ball. There is no need to massage the injection site. It should be noted that the injection site must be rotated frequently when injecting insulin, and the injection points should be separated by more than 1 cm. Avoid repeated injections at the same site, otherwise it will easily lead to local subcutaneous fat atrophy or hyperplasia, which will affect the absorption of insulin. In addition, avoid rubbing the needle tip with alcohol-based reagents. Alcohol will remove the coating on the needle tip, make the needle core rough, and increase the pain during injection.
For unused insulin that has been opened, it can be stored at room temperature in a cool and dry place below 25 degrees Celsius, avoiding light and heat. Normally, the shelf life of insulin stored at room temperature after opening cannot exceed 4 weeks. If it is an unopened insulin that will not be used for a short period of time, it is recommended to store it in the refrigerator compartment at 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, not in the freezer compartment. Do not place it in the refrigerator near the refrigerator wall, otherwise it may cause insulin damage due to icing; also do not place it next to the refrigerator door. Repeated opening and closing of the refrigerator door can cause insulin to oscillate repeatedly, which will affect the insulin potency and reduce the hypoglycemic effect. .
