1. Wash your hands with soap before injecting insulin. Take insulin out of the refrigerator 30 to 60 minutes early. Because the temperature of insulin fresh from the refrigerator is relatively low, it can cause pain when injected.
2. The insulin injection site is disinfected with 75% alcohol, and the disinfection range is 5-6 cm in diameter. It is necessary to wait for the alcohol to evaporate before injecting. If the alcohol enters the skin from the eye of the needle, it will aggravate the pain.
3. The insulin injection site should be soft and subcutaneous fat, such as the abdomen, the outer side of the upper arm, the anterolateral thigh and the buttocks. Injections in the abdomen are generally less painful than the outside of the upper arm. Insulin can be subcutaneously injected vertically in the abdomen or subcutaneously injected at a 45-degree angle, which can effectively relieve pain. Insulin injection sites should be rotated, do not inject in the same place within a month, and the two injection points should preferably be separated by 1 cm.
4. Use the thumb, index finger and middle finger to lift the skin about 3 cm wide when injecting, so that the subcutaneous tissue is fully separated from the muscle tissue, and the needle should be inserted quickly and decisively, because the slower the needle is inserted, the stronger the pain, and then slowly push the injection Press the button, and after pushing the needle to the bottom, keep the needle for 10 seconds, and quickly pull out the needle according to the original needle insertion direction, that is, when injecting insulin, the needle must be fast in and out.
5. After the injection is completed, snap the needle cap back onto the needle, remove the needle, and discard it in a hard-shell container with a lid or a medical trash can. The injection needle should be replaced every time you inject, and the needle should not be reused. Otherwise, the blunted needle will not only cause pain and infection during injection, but also easily cause subcutaneous nodules, which will affect the treatment effect.
6. Insulin syringes and refills—must be used exclusively by special persons and cannot be shared with others.
